ChicaBomb Surfboards Demo at Jacksonville Pier- January 2009

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

After Surf Expo 2009, several ChicaBomb partners brought about a dozen boards to the Jacksonville Beach Pier to get Sisters of the Sea feedback and let them try them out.

In all, 5 SOS women tried three ChicaBomb surfboards- The 9′ Betty Bomb longboard , the 7’10″ ChicaBomb mini-longboard, and the 7’2″ Bandita swallow-tail. The response was great despite the chilly temperatures and the cold water.

In all, we spent two days talking to the Sisters of the Sea about what they liked in boards, how they surf today, and where their surfing is heading in the future. They were terrific to meet and they gave us unabashed feedback.

I appreciated it so much that I gave them two boards as long-term loaners- a 9′ Betty Bomb and a 7’10″ ChicaBomb until April 2009.

Kris Perry, Valerie Zevens, Samantha Seyda, Natalie Morris, and Caroline Hoadley all gave us insightful feedback, both in and out of the water. I am extremely grateful for their time on both days.

ChicaBomb Surfboards will be down in Florida again April 4-11th to spend more time in Jax beach and show some newer boards from late winter 2009 production.

Why women's surfboards?

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

Ever since we started ChicaBomb Surfboards last year, a significant amount of people have asked me why we have chosen to focus on producing women’s surfboards. It is because we believe that we should be focusing more on women’s surfing and women’s surfboards in general, within the industry.

We see the opportunity to provide several key benefits to the women and girls who surf:

1) Boards that match your size and ability to deliver the best performance

2) Quality and Designs that take cues from vintage benchmarks and modern classics to create the best of both worlds

3) Personalization in style and size that creates an instant classic for you

If you are surfing, or thinking of surfing, and you want to talk boards, please feel free to drop us a line at products@chicabomb.com or email me directly at tomkirk@chicabomb.com .
